35 years of experience in helping people manage their mental health and wellbeing
I am a Chartered Consultant Clinical Psychologist (recognised by the HCPC) and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS), I am an Advanced Master Practitioner of Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT) as applied to adults with a range of mental health problems, including Depression and Anxiety. I am accredited with the BABCP and have over 35 year’s experience in the field.
I have further trained with the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre as a Trainer and Supervisor in CBT and as a Mindfulness Teacher with the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. As a registered teacher with the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA), I follow their guidelines for ethical and good practice.
Mindfulness
Since early retirement from the NHS, I have focussed my personal and professional development in the field of Mindfulness (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) and Yoga (mindfulness through movement). I have established a regular and beneficial personal practice, attend regular silent retreats usually at Gaia House in Devon and undertaken further training with the Oxford Mindfulness Centre in various curricula, including Mindfulness Cognitive Therapy for Depression (MBCT-D), Peace in a Frantic World and Mindfulness for Life (MBCT-L). I am the Gloucestershire contact for the local Gaia House Insight Meditation sitting group.
I am passionate about sharing Mindfulness with individuals who are struggling with their mental health, and for anyone who wants to promote their own wellbeing and flourishing within their workplace and for the general public. During the Covid pandemic, I have led a charitable Mindfulness programme for GP’s and primary care staff within Gloucestershire.
