Therapy

With over 35 years of experience in adult mental health, I now run a small private individual psychotherapy and supervision practice (online and in person) using approaches with a strong evidence base, usually cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), as recommended by NICE for the anxiety disorders (OCD, Health and Social Anxiety, PTSD, Panic disorder, General Anxiety Disorder,(GAD), Depression aswell as other mental and physical conditions . Much of my work is short term and problem focused, emphasising behavioural experimentation to facilitate change in stuck patterns of thinking. In addition, I use compassionate mind and mindfulness approaches to enhance the work so that clients can learn to better understand and be kinder to themselves.

Recognised by all major Insurers including BUPA, AXA, CIGNA, WPA.

‘Cognitive therapy seeks to alleviate psychological tensions by correcting misconceptions. By correcting erroneous beliefs, we can end the over-reactions’.
Aaron Beck, author of Cognitive Therapy of Depression.(1987)

“Perhaps the biggest tragedy of our lives is that freedom is possible, yet we can pass our years trapped in the same old patterns. We may want to love other people without holding back, to feel authentic, to breathe in the beauty around us, to dance and sing. Yet each day we listen to inner voices that keep our life small.”
