My Approach

My career has been dedicated to the understanding of cognitive science and its application to those in need in a way that is understandable and accessible.

My approach to unhappiness and fear and the many ways in which our minds become troubled, is of a scientist practitioner. Therefore, the approaches I use are  those that are recommended by NICE, the National Institute for Health Care Excellence.

I work collaboratively with the client to establish the nature of the problem(s) and together we develop a formulation that shapes the work that follows. Generally, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) are favoured approaches to a wide range of anxiety disorders including general anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, OCD and PTSD, with or without depression.

I work directly and indirectly, so value the opportunities to supervise and train other practitioners. I have been privileged to work extensively with GPs and in other workplaces across Gloucestershire and the South West, offering training, in mental health and wellbeing, CBT and Mindfulness. I work with a team of trained associates to provide a responsive service to the needs of groups and teams.
